Archbishop admitted as Sarum Canon
ARCHBISHOP Daniel Deng, the new Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of Sudan, was admitted as a Sarum Canon at a service of Evensong in Salisbury Cathedral on Thursday.
Archbishop Deng has been instrumental in evangelising and peace making in Sudan.
Formerly the Bishop of Renk and Chair of the Commission for Justice, Peace and Reconciliation, the Archbishop now heads a Church of some five million members which is one of the fastest growing in the Anglican Communion.
For over thirty years the Diocese of Salisbury has had strong partnership links with the Sudan and regular exchanges take place for mutual support.
