Holmes pleased with away form
NICK Holmes insists there is more to come from Salisbury City after their second straight away win at Lewes, writes Ryan Lovejoy.
"The three points were very welcome but we didn't quite hit the heights of the win at Forest Green Rovers, which I thought was a nine of out ten
performance," he said.
"At Lewes, we didn't pass the ball quite as well and we gave it away a bit too much in the middle third."
So far this season, the Whites' goals have come in braces - Darrell Clarke against Forest Green, and then Andy Sandell and new boy Charlie Griffin against Lewes.
"We don't mind that," said Holmes.
"Andy scored a few in pre-season from a striking role, and has looked like he could get more.
"And it was nice to see Charlie get his first goals for us, with Robbie Matthews' help, after they both came on in the second half.
"Sometimes it's easier to make an impact against tired legs, but what they've done puts them in the frame for starting positions."
Holmes is expected to rotate his squad for the Bank Holiday weekend, with Grays Athletic coming to Old Sarum on Saturday before the Whites travel to Torquay United on Monday.
He said: "Two games in three days is a big ask, so we might have to use the squad a little bit more.
"Grays are a typical hard-working Conference side who probably won't make the top five, but they won't struggle either and they'll cause problems for a lot of teams along the way.
"I watched Torquay lose 2-0 at home to Ebbsfleet United on Monday night on television, and they
didn't have the same zest as when they turned us over 4-0 early last season.
"But Ebbsfleet are a strong side and I would expect them to do well."
Left-back Matt Robinson is hopeful of recovering from his thigh injury in time to face Grays.
